SSRU Welcomes PMUC for Research Monitoring Visit, Driving Knowledge and Innovation toward Practical Utilization and National Competitiveness

On September 7, 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Worachairungreung, Director of the Institute for Research and Development, on behalf of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, welcomed Dr. Anchun Chomphuphuang, Deputy Director of the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC), together with executives and representatives from the organization, on the occasion of their on-site visit to monitor the progress and implementation results of PMUC-funded research projects. The visit was held at the University Council Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Building 31, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.

The visit served as an important mechanism for connecting “funding agency, university, and researchers,” providing an opportunity to exchange knowledge, experience, and perspectives on research implementation, from the development of research questions and project execution to the advancement of research outcomes toward practical utilization. Recommendations from PMUC will help enhance researchers’ capacity to develop high-quality works that better align with the needs of the economy, society, and the country’s development direction.

Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University has continuously emphasized the advancement of research and innovation. The university promotes lecturers and researchers in creating knowledge, technologies, and innovations that respond to changes at both national and global levels. At the same time, it seeks to move research outputs beyond academic knowledge toward “practical utilization” that can create value and impact across multiple dimensions, including the economy, society, tourism, industry, and the improvement of people’s quality of life.

Throughout Fiscal Years B.E. 2563–2568, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University received research funding support from PMUC under key programs aligned with the country’s competitiveness enhancement agenda, including digital technology and semiconductors, tourism and creative economy, circular economy, logistics, and high-value food. A total of 14 projects across six university units received support, reflecting the capability of university researchers to develop research that responds to national priorities and can be further advanced toward tangible value creation.

PMUC’s support is therefore not limited to research funding. It also serves as a key driving force in developing researchers’ capacity, strengthening the research and innovation ecosystem, and connecting university knowledge with the economic and social sectors. It also helps expand collaborative networks among the university, government agencies, private sector, industry, and relevant stakeholders to jointly advance research outputs toward broader utilization.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Worachairungreung stated that PMUC’s monitoring visit was not only an opportunity to follow up on research project progress, but also a “space for knowledge exchange” between researchers and the funding agency. The insights and recommendations received will be highly beneficial in enhancing research quality, advancing research outcomes, and generating research impact that truly responds to national development needs.

This visit therefore reflects the strong collaboration between Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University and PMUC in jointly driving knowledge and innovation from research toward concrete and practical utilization.
