SSRU Joins Senate Forum 2026, Collaborating with 22 Institutions to Connect Research with Legislative Work and Drive Innovation toward Practical Utilization

On September 8, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutikarn Sriviboon, President of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, attended the opening ceremony of Senate Forum 2026 under the theme “Decoding Thailand’s Future through Research and Innovation.” The event was organized by the Senate Research and Development Committee in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Senate and research and academic organizations. It served as a platform for exchanging knowledge, perspectives, and innovations, while promoting the utilization of research outputs to support legislative missions and national development in a concrete manner. The event was held at the Parliament Building.

Also participating in the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosjana Chandhasa, Vice-President for Research and Development; Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Worachairungreung, Director of the Institute for Research and Development; and Lecturer Atidtaya Buasri, Vice-Director for Intellectual Property Management and Business Incubation. They joined the activities to advance the connection of the university’s knowledge, research, and innovation toward practical utilization.

A key highlight of the event was Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University’s participation as one of 22 educational institutions nationwide in building an academic cooperation network through the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Utilization of Academic and Research Outputs in the Legislative Process between the Secretariat of the Senate and 22 educational institutions.

This collaboration marks an important step in developing a “knowledge network for legislative work” by connecting the potential of educational institutions, academics, and researchers with the missions of the Senate. It lays the foundation for knowledge and research outputs to be further developed as supporting information for consideration, policy recommendations, and legislative processes that rely on academic evidence and knowledge aligned with the national context and development needs.

This approach is aligned with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, particularly in supporting institutions and decision-making processes with evidence and knowledge. At the same time, the cooperation network between the Secretariat of the Senate and 22 educational institutions also supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes multi-sector collaboration to advance sustainable development.

In addition to policy-level cooperation, from September 8 to 9, 2026, the Institute for Research and Development, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, also participated in the exhibition and sales of research-based products under the Research Innovation Marketplace in the Health & Wellness Innovation Zone at the Morakot Pool area, 1st Floor, Parliament Building. The activity provided a space to connect health-related research and innovation with government agencies, the private sector, entrepreneurs, and the public, while creating opportunities for further utilization in the future.

The university presented four research-based products for exhibition and public dissemination, as follows:

This research was developed by Lecturer Dr. Ploysai Ohama, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chitlada Chumee, Asst. Prof. Dr. Saowanee Khamphan, Lecturer Dr. Orawan Wonganan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirilak Namwong, and Lecturer Nattakamon Phuengsamran from the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Development of Products from Waste Pomelo Peel

This research was developed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jatuporn Ounprasertsuk from the College of Allied Health Sciences.

Beeswax Lip Balm

This research was developed by Lecturer Suphawan Sanyalakruachai, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanyapat Thanakulwuttiroj, Lecturer Suwita Prueksa-aporn, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Worachairungreung from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts.

BaO Foot Deodorant Spray: Pomelo Peel Essential Oil–Based Foot Deodorizing Spray

This research was developed by Lecturer Dr. Rungtawan Muangmool, Chinese Medicine Practitioner Orawan Sinpaiboonlert, and Miss Lonita Phawananon from the College of Allied Health Sciences.

In addition, lecturers and students from the Applied Thai Traditional Medicine Program, College of Allied Health Sciences, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, provided services for event participants, including neck, shoulder, and upper-back massage. They also presented and sold products from the Thai Traditional Medicine Program to raise awareness of health-related knowledge and wisdom, while promoting the application of Thai traditional medicine knowledge in daily life.

Bringing research and innovation into the public space served as another mechanism for connecting university knowledge with users and external partners. It created opportunities for researchers to engage with government agencies, the private sector, entrepreneurs, and the public, helping build networks and lay the groundwork for further development of research outputs in the future.

Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University’s participation in Senate Forum 2026 therefore reflects the university’s direction in driving “research and innovation toward practical utilization.” This includes creating mechanisms to connect knowledge with the legislative process and opening spaces for research outputs to reach users. The initiative is linked to SDG 16 in supporting institutions and decision-making processes with knowledge, as well as SDG 17 in promoting multi-sector partnerships. These efforts lay an important foundation for the university’s research outputs to be further developed into value creation for society and sustainable national development.
