Institute for Research and Development, SSRU Organizes Training to Promote National and International Petty Patent and Patent Registration

From July 7 to 8, 2026, at S.D. Avenue Hotel, Bangkok, the Institute for Research and Development, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, through its Intellectual Property Management and Business Incubation Division, organized the “Project to Promote National and International Petty Patent and Patent Registration.” The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of lecturers, researchers, and innovators by enhancing their knowledge and understanding of intellectual property protection. It also sought to support the advancement of research and innovation outputs toward petty patent and patent registration at both national and international levels, thereby increasing the value of Thai research outputs and enhancing their competitiveness.

On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Worachairungreung, Director of the Institute for Research and Development, presided over the opening ceremony, while Lecturer Atidtaya Buasri, Vice-Director for Intellectual Property Management and Business Incubation, delivered a report on the objectives of the training.

The training was honored by the participation of Ms. Jiraporn Luangpairin, Director of the Intellectual Property Center, Khon Kaen University, who served as the guest speaker. She shared knowledge on patent information searches, procedures for filing patent and petty patent applications, and key principles for drafting applications in compliance with legal requirements. The training was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge that can be applied to the development of research and innovation outputs for effective intellectual property protection.

A total of 23 participants attended the training, which contributed to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as follows:

SDG 1: No Poverty

The training promoted the commercial utilization of research and innovation outputs, creating income-generating opportunities, increasing the value of research outputs, and improving the quality of life of researchers, communities, and entrepreneurs.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

The project enhanced researchers’ capacity to create innovations protected by intellectual property rights, helping to strengthen competitiveness, promote innovation-based businesses, and drive economic growth through knowledge-based development.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

The training supported the research, innovation, and intellectual property management ecosystem by encouraging the development of research outputs toward patent and petty patent registration, enabling their practical application in industry and society.

This project reflects the mission of the Institute for Research and Development, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, to enhance intellectual property management capacity, promote the creation of high-quality research and innovation outputs, and support their practical application for commercial and social benefits.
