Suan Sunandha Shares R2R Knowledge to Strengthen DDPM Personnel Capacity in Disaster Management Research

From July 23 to 24, 2026, the Institute for Research and Development, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, was invited by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) to serve as a resource team for a hands-on training workshop on developing disaster risk management work into research through the Routine to Research (R2R) approach. The training was held at S.D. Avenue Hotel, Bang Phlat District, Bangkok.

The opening ceremony was honored by Mr. Prasong Thammapala, Director of the Bureau of Research and International Cooperation, who represented Mr. Teeraphat Katchamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, in delivering the opening remarks. The workshop was attended by DDPM personnel, who participated in learning and practical activities aimed at applying research concepts and processes to systematically improve their routine work.

Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Worachairungreung, Director of the Institute for Research and Development, together with Asst. Prof. Nayot Kulpanich, Vice-Director for Research and Publication; Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanyapat Thanakulwutthiroj; and Lecturer Suwita Prueksa-aporn, served as the training team to share knowledge and provide consultation to participants.

The training covered key principles, concepts, techniques, and processes for transforming routine work into research. Topics included problem analysis based on work practices, research issue and research question formulation, and research proposal outline development. The program combined lectures, group-based practical workshops, and knowledge exchange based on real work experience.

The project aimed to strengthen the knowledge, understanding, and research skills of DDPM personnel, enabling them to analyze data, problems, and experiences from their routine work and develop them into research projects that respond to operational needs. The outcomes are expected to support the practical use of research findings to enhance the efficiency of disaster prevention and mitigation operations, making them more systematic, modern, and responsive to evolving disaster situations.

Being invited to serve as resource persons for this training reflects the role of the Institute for Research and Development, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, in transferring research knowledge, developing personnel capacity, and promoting the use of research processes as an effective and sustainable tool for organizational and operational development.
