Institute for Research and Development, SSRU Conducts Field Training in Ranong Province to Transfer Knowledge on Local Food Development and Expand Community Economic Opportunities

From July 22 to 23, 2026, the Institute for Research and Development, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, through its Intellectual Property Management and Business Incubation Division, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Worachairungreung, Director of the Institute for Research and Development, assigned the division to conduct hands-on training activities in Ranong Province. The activities were held at Ban Thung Ngao Community, Ngao Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ranong Province, and Khao Niwet Community, Khao Niwet Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ranong Province.

The training was organized under the theme “Development of Local Food for Commercialization.” It was honored by the participation of Ms. Duangporn Thongchim, who served as a resource person and shared knowledge on the preparation of “Ba Zhang,” and Ms. Boonpit Phanthurat, who provided training on the preparation of the traditional local dish “Mee Thai Boran.” A total of 250 local residents and community enterprise members participated in the training.

Participants gained both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, enabling them to apply the knowledge acquired to create career opportunities, generate income, and connect university knowledge with practical use in local areas. The activity also supported the development of community entrepreneurs by transferring knowledge that responds to the local context and community needs.

This activity formed part of the “Project to Upgrade Research-Based Prototype Products toward Commercialization,” which focuses on applying knowledge and research outputs in a concrete manner in line with the creative economy concept and the Rajabhat University strategy for sustainable local development. The project aims to enhance the potential of community entrepreneurs, increase market competitiveness, and create added value for community products.

The initiative reflects the university’s role in promoting lifelong learning and skills development among local people. It aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education through knowledge transfer and practical learning, as well as SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by laying the foundation for occupational skills development and the advancement of community products toward economic opportunities. However, economic outcomes should continue to be monitored and evaluated to confirm concrete impacts in the future.
